NPT Elbow

Thread Elbow NPT

This elbows are suitable for high-purity, chemical handling applications in semiconductor and chemical industries. They connect to standard NPT threaded components including PFA fittings and PFA threaded pipe systems. It was initially designed for water pipelines, but it also have been used in hydraulic systems for many years.

NPT stands for national pipe tapered threads, also known as ASME/ ANSI B1.20.1 pipe threads. This American standard threads cannot use with  NPS as well as other standard threads. Tapered threads will provide a closer seal than straight threads.

Characteristics of NPT Threaded Elbow

• Angle between taper and center axis of pip is 1°47’24”
• 60° thread angle
• Pitch is measured in threads per inch.
• Required sealant or PTFE placed on the threads before assembly

BSPT Elbow

BSPT stand for British Pipe Tapered threads, its diameter increases or decreases along the length of the thread, denoted by the letter R. Contact is made on the flanks of the threads. It is recommended to use sealant for BSPT elbow connection. The function of BSPT thread elbow are similar to NPT elbow expect several important differences.

• The angle across the flanks of threads is 55 degree instead of 60 degree of NPT.
• BSPT pipe sizes the thread pitch is different than NPT
• Thread form per AS1722.1, BS21, ISO 7

BSPP Elbow

BSPP Elbow is parallel thread fittings that uses a bonded seal ring to do the sealing, BSPP refers for British Standard Parallel pipe threads. It has the same thread angle with BSPT elbows.

• Thread form per AS 1722.2, ISO 228
• Constant diameter, denoted by the letter G.
