They utilize an external ring which accurately centers the gasket on flange faces, and provides additional radial strength to prevent gasket blowout as well as a compression stop.
CGI Style Spiral Wound Gasket
They are suitable for use on flat face and raised face flanges, and can be specified for high pressure/temperature service or where corrosive or toxic media are present.
