Socket weld is a pipe connection way which the pipe is inserted into a recessed area of a pipe fitting or flange. It mainly appears in small diameter pipe system which are 4 inch or smaller. And in this conditions, it can provide high leakage integrity and great structural strength. The fatigue resistance is lower than butt weld construction.
