What is BLRF Flange

Raised Face Blind Pipe Flange is the most common blind type that used to seal the end of pipe systems or pressure vessel openings. It has FF and RTJ Face Sealing Type.

The Character is no hole in the center, but still has mounting holes around the perimeter, and the gasket sealing rings are machined into the mating surface.

ASTM A105N Blind Pipe Flange Functions

The BLRF flange can connect pipelines and keep sealing. It is also convenient for changing one section of pipes. The pipeline which needed disassemble to inspection is also suitable for it.

In terms of the sealing pipes, it has the same function as Pipe Cap and Plug. But pipe caps and plugs are not able to disassemble, while RF blind flange are connected to pipe with stud bolts, is easy to dismantle. It has better sealing than plug and cap, so it is reliable for pipes required complete isolation.

How We Manufacture Forged Flange

It mainly has forging and casting two technology to manufacture.

We adopt forging to produce flange because, generally speaking, forged fittings are better than castings.

Compared to castings, Forged Blind Pipe Flange has better mechanical properties and micro-structure. And it has less defect with high strength.

Key steps in manufacturing process are as follows:

1. Planning: Based on fitting specifics and client requirements; includes creating part identification in manufacturing system.
2. Selection of raw material: metal plate or pipe.
3. Cutting: Cut the metal into needed size.
4. Heating: Heating to a certain temperature so that it can be shaped.
5. Forming
6. Inspection and tests: According to standards and client requirements.
7. Coating (if required).

When a raised face is necessary for ASME B16.5 Blind Pipe flange, the standard height is 1/16″ for flanges under 400#. For Blind Pipe Flanges of 400# and up, the standard raised face height is 1/4″.

ASME B16.5 is the standard for pipe flange and flange fittings. ASME B16.47 blind flange is also available. This standard is applicable to large diameter of steel flanges.

Stainless steel has pretty appearance, smooth surface, and good corrosion resistance. The plasticity and toughness of stainless steel are improved after solution treatment.

Carbon Steel Blind Flange

Carbon steel has the largest usage in the world, and common in Pipe Fittings. It is economic and practical, it has great strength and hardiness.

Usually we make the flange surface with anti-rust oil and black primer. And in other special pipe systems, hot dip galvanized blind flange is required and Min weight of zinc coat is 610g/m².

Carbon Steel Grade: ASTM A105N, A350 LF2, FL3, A694 F52, F60 and F65.

Alloy Steel Blind Flange

Alloy steel has high cost performance. Its strength and mechanical performance is good. And its corrosion prevention is good as well.
